Hello, I cut down a small skinny tree today, not sure what kind, and went to the lathe. I didn't cut it in half like you would for a bowl, but just cut the ends and put it on like a dowel. I did this with a different tree the other day and had no problems with the grain. But with this piece, my bedan tool would barely cut it and at the same time ripping out the fibers from the sides of the cut, and the cut itself. The small parting tool didn't rip to much, but would barely cut anything as well. The bedan tool is known for taking out large amounts of wood quickly, but it was just making about 1/8" mark. What is wrong here? -Kenny |

Nevermind, the wood worked fine after two days. I guess it was just to wet.
