Merle, that's one neat little guy. When I grow up to be a big boy, I'd like to try something like that, but will need a lot more practice before I tackle something like that, well done for sure.

Excellent Merle! I love the happy little fellow and are you going to paint him or leave natural. Either way just super job.

Hi guys, Cliff Mark's DVD takes you by the hand and guides you right thru the piece. he makes it so simple. No color on this one Kathy, I thought I would just paint the eyes and leave the rest natural. My Basswood is 3/4" boards glued together and cut to size. The grain is kind of tricky and glue comes loose so I ordered some pieces that will not have to be glued. Might be a lot easier to carve. I like things easy. Hey Tom H, That happy face just happens. It showed up on some other pieces of mine, not planned, just turned out that way. That is good right. Thanks everyone for your comments. Merle

Very nice elf, Merle! I like that style of only painting the eyes.

Thanks Claude, I like to try to make things different. I have to paint the eyes though. To me that brings life to them. Merle

Really super effect on the eyes!!. Not finishing the rest of the piece really sets of the blue eyes. Nice looking.
