Question Resealing green wood.

I have a peace of Purple Heart that is 6x6x3, I picked up from our local woodcraft store. It is wax sealed. I have been power carving cling cross. My daughter wants me to make one for her out of PurpleHeart, So she pick out the block of wood she would like to have the cross make out of. The wood is actual ment for a bowl turing and is wax sealed. With that said I can make 5-6 crosses out of the block of wood. But, I will not be making them all at once.

My question is what can I seal the unused wood back up with so it will say green and not crack or split on me... I also do not want what ever I use to sain the wood...

Had anybody ever tried to hand cave PurpleHeart? Can it be hand caved?

Thanks for the help gang.....

Anchorseal is used by lots of woodworkers to seal green wood. Your purpleheart is from the tropics so there is a good chance it is already quite dry and you may not need to reseal it. Ask the store owner if it needs to be resealed. Have never used purpleheart, but know some wood turners who have and they had no difficulties with it. Any wood can be carved. Good luck with your project.

Thank you, Rare Yellow Zebra I will cut into it and see where I stand... The store told me it was green... BUT the worker there at the store.... Well I sometimes question his knowledge... When he says, He is not a wood carver and does not do much wood working, and yet works at a store that specializes in wood working products... ???? make is wonder. I am happy for him that he has a job... BUT???
