Hello All, Ive been on this board a couple of weeks and its great fun. I need to get a digital camera. Right now I have to ask my wife to bring hers from work, get the computer guy at work to read it & send it to me etc. so I ve got to get one of my own. I want to join in on the picture sharing. Any ideas for about 100.00 bucks? Merry Christmas SteveCowboy |

Hi, Here's a suggestion Olympus SP-510 UZ Digital Camera. The only reason I suggested it is because I just sent for one. By the time I paid for everything I needed I have about $300.00 into it.. Be sure to do your research and pick one that will best suit your needs. Go to a Best buy or where ever they have a wide variety of cameras check them over really well. And Good Luck! http://www.dpreview.com/news/0608/06...olysp510uz.asp

| Get one with rechargeable batteries! I have an HP photosmart 812, nice camera but it will cost a fortune in batteries…(I need to take my own advise and buy rechargeables for it) I’m sure there are better, newer ones out as mine is about five years old. |

I have an HP Photosmart 315. It is old and digital. I would like a new digital camera but there are too many to choose from now. Good luck tho. Try to get one that has a card or a lot of storeage space. Also get one with a good lens. One that can zoom in and take clear photos.

I researched all the sites on digital cameras before I bought mine. most all pointed to Canons. For what I know they're probably very similar, but they felt the lens' were better.Mine was a bit over your budget, but I wanted something nice for a trip to Paris

I can recommend a great camera, but not in that price bracket. I did my homework this past summer and settled on a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ30 A bunch of Auto and Manuel modes, manuel, macro and auto focus, great pic quality flexability, and more bells and whistles than I can rhyme off...... But it doesn't come cheap. Just move that decimal point over one place and it will be in your budget range. Had a Kodak DX 6490 before that , it works well, and less expensive, but no manual focus, which is a key for me to get good pics. Auto focus doesn't always focus on what you want it to. Bob

I bought a Nikon D70 over a year ago and have never had a problem with it and it's the best camera I've ever owned. It's way out of the price range you mentioned but, as they say, you get what you pay for. They now make a smaller version...the D50 which is cheaper but lacks some of the features.

This is pretty close to your price range. I believe with the printer and all, was around $149.00. A Kodak DX 4530. Not all the bells and whistles that the high dollar ones have but then, I believe those bells and whistles are not all use so you are paying for items not used.Multiple uses for sure. Now this little camera takes better pictures than some and if the operater is any good, rates up there with the high dollar ones. I have a hig dollar one and do not see any difference on photos. Of course, Lynn is right, You pay for what you get. However, there are some good ones out there that you don't have to sell you house to get. By the way,HP has several nice ones in your price range.

Thanks to all for their camera suggestions. I was at Wal-mart this morn. and bought a Samsung digimax 500. It seems to be good enough for what I want to do. Now I just gotta learn how to use it. I hope to post some pics tomorrow. I carved up a cardinal after Brushpile started that great thread. And I want to get opinions on the snowman scene I made my wife. Again thanks all, and I hope you have a Merry ChristmasRed Face Steve |
