Visit BABALOU'S site at http://artitch.tripod.com and, please, leave your comments here. She thinks she doesn't have anything worthwhile to say to us.

Those are beautiful carvings! I would love to know more about soap stone carving and how it differs as well as resembles wood carving. Nancy thank you for sending us to her site and please ask her to join us. |

I guess I can't go home at night--I miss all the great carvings...wait, I can still comment on how AWSOME those carvings are. I'm also interested in the soapstone. My dad got me a chunk for Christmas, and I've been just stareing at it... Bob |

OH MY GOSH! I stumbled into this thread and read it backwards of course. When I realized you were talking about me I had to pick myself up off the floor. Such compliments from such good carvers leaves me blushing. As far as soapstone goes it is pretty easy to carve. I don't use my best tools on it though. I start with a little or big rasp depending on the size of the piece. It carves with knives, power tools (always use a mask as it can have asbestos) and sands beautifully. I will be happy to answer any questions you have. Thanks so much for all your kind praise. Now I shall try to get my head through the office door. Barb Jester |
