OK, here are my last 2 months worth of carving. Finally at the ripe old age of 59 I'll be a grandpa in about two weeks. That and the last issue's baby spoon article got me going on that project. The spoons and spreaders are maple, hornbeam (hard stuff!), and poplar. The wizards are basswood, of course. I need practice painting as much or more than the carving, but it was lots of fun. Pictures are not very good, but for a BlackBerry smart phone... Not so bad.

I'm also sending a 3D enhanced ultrasound image of my grandson. Don't know if it will show up well on these thumbnails, but I was sure impressed with the technology!

Please feel free to critique the carvings. I'm wide open for coaching!

Thanks for looking,

L.P.

Congratulations to the soon to be Grandpa! That technology is amazing but still doesn't compair to the first time you actually get to see him. Have fun with grandparenting.

Nice job on all the carvings, but I really like the spreaders. They look good with the bark on the handle, and the ring around them was a nice touch. Thanks for sharing

Eric

Ahhh. A handsome lad, indeed, L.P.! There is not much better than being a Grampa! Carvings look good too. The more you do, the better you'll get. That hornbeam stuff is definitely HARD! We call it "ironwood" around here and it makes some of the best "working" walking sticks you can find. Very sturdy, but because I make them for hiking, not display, there is not much decoration on them

Nice carvings there, L.P. Aren't those wizards fun? And I know what you mean about the painting. Seems it takes longer to get good at that than it does the carving. At least, it's harder for me.
