Default Ralph, the Alpha Angel

Hmmmm....SantaCarvinLady has become AngelCarvinLady for a moment or two....Ralph is my first attempt at doing an angel. He's the result of a request to do an angel...and my inability to get my chisels to make a female face actually LOOK female - all my female attempts to date would have had to be named 'Butch' 8)

He's on my picturetrail site http://www.picturetrail.com/santacarvinlady. All advice is welcome :

Teri

The angel looks fabulous! don't forget, angels are niether male or female, so who cares what gender you make them look like. I used to think (when I started carving crucifixes) 'that's not what Jesus looks like', then I realized no bady knows what he looks like. We base what things of this subject look like, on aincient renderings. It has transeferred over so many times we take it as gospel. So if anyone is goofy enough to say that's not what an angel looks like, ask them what the angel they saw looked like

Thanks, you all....yes, I guess he does look like a Santa angel....lol...would you expect anything less from me? I appreciate all the kind words - I doubt I'll go too deeply into the angel carving business, but who knows? He was fun...but I definitely need to learn more about faces and wings. :
