I've seen in several older woodcarving books where they show the carving tools without the handles. I would like to make my own handles but I can't find a source for just the tool. Does anyone know where I might find them (or are they even made that way today)? Thanks |

Most of them are made that way and the handles are made to be replaced easilly. A couple taps with a leather mallet will usually get them off with no problem. I don't know of anybody who just sells the tools without handles though.

I think that you can get some older design (not polished) Dastra tools from Ron Diefenbacher (diefenbacher.com) without handles attached. I just purchased a #7 2mm spoon gouge from him that way. Russ |
