| | Re: problem with Mastercarver tool Wow this has been some interesting drama. Kind of playing out like a mix between a soap opera, an infomercial, and People's Court. I have to commend Bob D for allowing the drama to play out, as we all can witness the mediation work itself out. But I also can imagine Bob D holding his breath a bit not wanting to offend either a subscriber or a vendor.
I just thought I'd interject a little comic relief at this point to allow Bob D. to breathe a little. Hope everything works out.
Carry on

I think it's great to for people to see both sides! ANd I'm glad that we are getting all this great information!

| | Re: problem with Mastercarver tool I find it depressing to see a carver not getting any satisfication from a known Carving supplier. At the last Tulsa Carving Show there was a booth and I have no idea what the man's name was but was selling Wood Carvers Supply Inc products as a representative of WCSI, but was from Colorado so it appears there are others who sells for that company.
I can't say whether they are good or bad as I have not done any business with them as the supplier booth next had the some of the same products and a cheaper price. Hey, every dollar savings counts!
However, it is dishearting to see a carver's hard earned money being wasted on a product that does not work for him whether it is good or bad.
Wood Carver Supply Inc, it would be good business sense to send the man all NEW pieces at your cost as the bad publicity can cost you more. Here to tell ya, bad press can cost you sells for sure. Not in to power carving so, maybe I should keep my mouth shut ,eh?
JMHO but then, maybe I will look else where when and if I get into power carving. |

| | Re: problem with Mastercarver tool Well I guess I've been a fence sitter on this one. I have made two posts, and then deleted them, afraid to offend people on this board. I believe that Gil has a legitimate complaint, but after reading the comments by carvers that have dealt with this company & the comments by the company, they were mostly positive. I like the E-BAY feedback forum, where you get to read the good and bad about buyers and sellers. It looks like the company let this one get by them, and are hopefully willing to make it all go away. |

| | Re: problem with Mastercarver tool Well I guess I can throw my 2 cents on the pile. I haven't purchased anything form Woodcarvers Supply for quite a while, but not because of bad service. I bought a Ram power carver from them about 8 years ago,and it came with the wrong size collet. I contacted them and they were more than happy to take care of my problem. oldbearx2

| | Re: problem with Mastercarver tool Ya know...if I read the man's complaints right from the start, right from the getgo his main concern was the manufacturer/supplier/company rep or whatever you want to call them wanted him to ship the faulty tool back to them for testing or what have you, and they wanted him to pay for "shipping both ways" upfront.
Boy if that wouldn't get my dander up I don't know what would.
Anyway it looks like the situation is under control because if I'm reading all the back and forth followup correctly they have all agreed to give him his money back and they are are offering to pay the shipping.
Guess that's what the "customer" wanted from day one, seems it's best to provide "customer service" if you want to keep customers happy and get repeat busness.
Enough talking for OG on this one.
BTW Hugh you have a followup private message waiting.
Dang it wish you could just drop folks here a e-mail right from this board.

| | Re: problem with Mastercarver tool I spent a few years selling expensive industrial equipment and did very well at it. I learned that SERVICE is what differentiates a company that sells pretty much the same stuff as other companies. I cannot dispute any of the facts that were presented on both sides. However, I can assure you that had the vendor made the effort to get the machine back and get another one in his customer's hands ASAP, the customer would have posted a VERY different comment. We would all be favorably inclined to do business with them and we would all be the better for it. Instead, we read about who actually sold it and who made the profit and who should back it up. How many times have we read about Rick-in-Seattle's GREAT SERVICE? Rick sells basically the same tools as other dealers so what makes his company GREAT? Yup, service. Try it, you'll like it.

| | Re: problem with Mastercarver tool My thanks to all for those postings in this thread that have recounted past good experiences dealing with Wood Carvers Supply, Inc. If Gil’s purchase had been made directly from Wood Carvers Supply, Inc. (something we all wish was the case under the circumstances) this too would have been resolved long ago. But since this product was purchased through a dealer, certain protocol and procedures needed to be followed. As a relatively new dealer, Bob Goad was handling his first dissatisfied customer and a few things got “tangled up in the lines”. One basis for good customer service is communication. Unfortunately, neither Gil nor Bob copied emails to me which sometimes left me in the dark. Underlying our combined efforts is a sincere desire to satisfy the customer. In the end, the customer will get what he really wants at this point, plus Bob and I have learned a few things from this experience. By applying what we have learned, we hope to prevent this type of thing from ever happening again. After 50 years of serving carvers, Wood Carvers Supply, Inc. is still striving to learn and improve. Onward and upward! Timothy |

| | Re: problem with Mastercarver tool MASTERCARVER:
I have a question for you (considering how helpful you are).
A few years back I was in the process of purchasing some tools while I was in the service so that when I retire I could start carving again and possibly sell more of my carvings (on the ship I was unable to take anything other than a few knives due to the lack of space). However, since I came off the ship this year, I noticed that the recipricating hand piece that was orange has now been changed to a black one and apparently the "newer blades" don't fit the old model. I was just wondering what, if anything, I can do to get blades to fit the older model handpiece.
I understand that it was no-ones fault that I was at sea and wasn't able to keep up to date on the catalogs and changes. However, any suggestions would be very helpful. Why did the change take place any way?
Thank you very much for your time!
