Smile Power carvng hiking sticks

Can I rough out a wood spirit or caricature head on a cane or hiking stick about 1 1/2 or 3/4 inch diameter hardwood with a micro-motor without undue wear or damage to the micro-motor. I was planning on using a 1/4 - 5/16 typhoon bur and a foredom 1070 micro-motor. I was planning on doing mostly small carving with the micro-motor. 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 stock would be as large as I would do.
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,

I don't see why you can't do exactly what you said with your micro-motor. The only problem you will encounter is how aggressive you want to get. If you take it easy and don't push too hard you won't overwork or overheat the motor. I use a Wecheer detail engraver/micromotor and have no problems with it on my sticks.

Shouldn't be a problem.Just let the speed do the work and not put a strain on the motor.Tony
