| | Posted part of this before I finished the horse head topped cane and traveled to Bedford Tx, between Dallas and Fort Worth last week to present the cane to My little bride's and my friend from Austraila. She had Palaminos when she lived in Texas but could not take them when they were transferred to Austraila 20 odd years ago. Anyway, I painted the head what I thought was the color of Palaminos and the mane almost white and sure enough, it was the color of her Palies, All she knew was I was carving her a walking cane but had no what it was. On the shaft I burned in the state od Texas on top and the country of Austraila down about 12 inches and painted the state the same colors as the Texas flag and the country the color of the UnionJack and the Auzzie deep blue. Carved her initials in the back side of the cane as Her name was long and she will be using this to walk with( bad Knees). Anyway, I forgot to take pictures so what I have is with her in it and I just may go ahead and post them anyway with her cropped out. Well, I will now get 2 years of a English Carving Mag as I did not charge her for the cane but she insisted that I take a subscription to that mag. She had bought me a couple of issues and tho it does not compare to the WCI at all, I found the mag interesting as Chris Pyle and O.H.boyd are regular contributers to that Magazine.
Well, I have rattled on long enough. See y'll later as we are taking off again for a while. |

| | Re: Posted part of this before Kenny, that sounds like quite a piece of work. Did you forget to attach the photo or are you still cropping? We'd like to have a peek.
I've also seen the Brit carving magazine, have a subscription and agree, it's no WCI. Some beautiful carvers over there though.

| | Re: Posted part of this before Bob, here is the pictures of the Horse head Cane. Basswood head and shaft. Double threaded carriage bolt and epoxy holding the head on. Not of the quailty of your Dragon cane. Comments welcomed, good or bad!

| | Re: Posted part of this before Guess I need to reformat the size of the shaft. I will add that she did not want an ornated cane so I did not go in to much detail on the head and since she was using the cane, I flaten the ears so there would not be a sharp edge to handle. |
