Still caught up in the house renovation, but I had a minute and was trying to find the post here about a Hitty doll rough-out one of the members posted on EBay. I checked EBay and the only one I can find is partially carved. I seem to remember the person here only roughed out the face features. Many Forum searches and no luck! Anybody know what or who I am talking about? If so, please let me know! I probably should have made this two posts, but in a big hurry---gotta get the next coat of Spar sanded and redone. Hope to be back soon, I'm past the halfway point with the cabinet door refinish. Idea I'm trying to find a VERY simple and quick design I can carve into the handles. They are plain oak, in a simple "U" shape, 3 3/4" inches long. I was thinking of just using my V tool and doing a swirl across the face. They just look so plain! If you want to see them, they are on the Rockler site (Rockler.com), Item # 30072. I'll try to post a picture! Miss you guys, but I'll be back soon...I hopeApple ! Linda, I cannot answer your specific quest, but I have patterns for the Hitty doll blank. I don't have a scanner, but could send a very good photo if you want. Tom H

Thanks Tom, I really appreciate the offer. I actually have the pattern from the Hitty web site, but unless I missed it they didn't give instructions. I don't recall seeing what size to cut the arms, legs, torso, and head. Not sure if I'm explaining this right, but it's kind of like the "thickness" (3rd?) dimension is missing. I'm still at the carving stage of having to have things really clear or I don't get it.Red Face Once I "see" it or carve it then I'm OK. I do have lots of pictures from the site, there must be more instruction somewhere. I read today that they have over 400 on that site. Wow! And they're all carving! Thanks again, I'll go back tonight and have another go at it. I'm sure they must be there. I thought it was someone in this group that sold one on EBay. Just taking a quick break from painting---those fumes are so bad I probably don't make a lot of sense! Linda aka Loonie! |

Thanks Thomp! I finally found the page I was looking for last night about 2 AM. It's the one that lists the measurements of the "real" Hitty. http://www.hitty.org/research/descri...surements.html There are two sites, Sara Cole's and Julie Old Crow's and between the two there is a wealth of information, it's just hard to find sometimes. I don't know when I'll have time to get to this, but I wanted to get the blank cut to have it on "standby" for travelling and such. Nice piece for "pocket" work! Thanks again, oh---and thanks for the pattern. Another one I saw, but couldn't tell you where! Come to think of it, I may have bookmarked some of these, too. I usually print out a hard copy along with the bookmark. Websites seem to disappear quickly and are gone when I go back! Thanks again to everyone, I'm off to grab the sanding block and start on the next set of doors! Which reminds me, any suggestions about an "easy and quick" thing I could do with those oak pulls? Hi Linda, Its not me with the blanks on Ebay. But.. if you wish ,I sure can send you a cut out! Heres what I ended up doing. I used that pattern on Sara Coles site, brought the pattern into my Paint Shop Pro 7, and resized it using the 'height' as 6.25 inches or 5.5 inches.. and then printed it out. All the parts of the doll pattern will come out resized correctly. I do believe that now when you click to save that pattern from her site, and print it out, it will come out the right size. Just measure from top to bottom and if its 6.25 inches.. your on the money!! I then use X ray film to cut the patterns on too. I will mark each peice as the 6.25 doll or the 5.5 inch tall doll and paper clip them together. Just measure the width of the biggest part of the patterns and use that for your measurements of wood. You will be able to tell on the pattern wich peices go on the side and wich on top by watching how the legs, arms are drawn on the pattern. There are two patterns of arm and leg.. just lay one on top, the other on the side of the wood. I draw a line first.. and keep the bottom of both patterns on that line. This way when the cuts happen your patterns are correct to each other. |

Here are the last three I've done. The men are at 6.5 inches tall, and the middle girl I shrunk down to 5.5 inches tall to be able to fit with the 1/12 scale dollhouse furniture.
