Default Post your carving "bone head move" here

It is my hope that this thread is only one post long...

I arose at 3:00 am this morning to finish my work for the "Favorite Carving Exchange" and with a pot of coffee to dump over my head trudged into the dungeon to complete this task that is way overdue.

After finishing the final touches, I grabbed the aerosol can to spray the Polyurethane to seal the deal.

After a few even passes over the piece, with cobwebs still firmly lodged in my nugget, I came to a "bone head" realization...

NEVER put a can of spray adhesive next to your can of poly...

Hi Bob, That is some good advise. I think we all have done a bone head thing more than once.
Good luck on the carving. A lot of great ideas have come about by making a mistake.
Thanks for sharing, Carl

I haven't done that with adhesive but did do that with black spray paint. Bet I had that deer in the head lights look though. I even shook the can up after taking the "black" lid off. Well Duh!

I wanted a shinny finish on a piece I'd carved out of Cherry several years ago so I decided to spray it with high gloss clear lacqure, it looked good for a few seconds until I remembered I'd put about 6 coats of wax on the carving when I finished it several years before.

That mistake is going to stick with you for awhile Bob. Find some feathers and call it tared and feathered.

my bro in law grabbed the anusol and thought it was for chapped lips! If any body doesn't know what anusol is, it's for hemorrhoids!
