Awhile back someone posted about carving wood spirits with nothing but a pocket knife. Being the inquisitive fledgling carver that I am, I gave it a whirl. Here is the result of my efforts. This is a piece of Sycamore about 1". It rode around in the side box of my work truck for a couple weeks as I worked on him during breaks and so forth. I brought it directly home to the camera and did not bother with the fuzzy's.

That's a good job with just a pocket knife. It's a lot more challenging and rewarding.

Carl, thank you! It is a slightly modified pocket knife. The manufactures edge is long gone. But, alas it is still a pocket knife. Ron T, thank you as well!!!! It certainly is a challenge. One I like very much!!
