Default plastic pipe?

Has anyone heard of plastic pipe as another carving medium?? I am assuming that they use large diameter pipe, maybe similar to large antler carving?? who knows??? plastic pipe would have no grain to distort a pic..does anyone know of any finished projects??? Lets make some people scratch their heads and share with others ..thanks in advance. Just figured I would throw this question out,if you dont ask, you wont get an answer.

Yes, I've heard of people doing that. Seems to me I've seen pictures too but at the moment I can't remember where or when.

Like Mike, I remember seeing some postings about plastic pipe carving but I'm thinking it was several years ago and perhaps on the old WCI board. I don't know why it couldn't be done...it would be like carving on hardened golf ball interiors. Probably dull your tools pretty fast since doing the golf balls does a good job on that. Don't imagine power would work since the speed would melt instead of remove material.

Let us know what you discover.

One fellow that had a bunch of carving on pipe was at

http://www.pipedreamscarving.com/

Unfortunately, I just tried it and it does not come up anymore. It was some real interesting stuff on there. It was all carved in white sewer pipe. Might want to try it again in case it is just temporarily down. He might have a different web site or something.
