| | Pirates suggestion Hi!
I need to make a gift for a friend, she is the one who always encorauge me to keep carving and I can't just buy her something in a market, I HAVE to carve something special for her. I know she is crazy about pirates and I would like to do something related to them, but all I've ever carved are animals, excepting 2 cm. figures on pencils... I have not too much time either.
Do you know where I can find free patterns? If not, any idea would be equally apreciated, suggestions, pictures, anything. I'm in blank. |

| | Re: Pirates suggestion Tarik, carve her a pirate pencil! Get one of the big children's pencils. Carve your woodspirit face, add a little black bandana hat and eye patch. She would love to show it off where ever she works.

| | Re: Pirates suggestion Here is a pirate I carved a few years ago to give to my daughter, I intended it to be a whirligig, but it took a bunch of air to rotate the arms. Actually, may have one more arm because I had a good argument with myself how the propellers should be, finally modeled them after a model airplane prop. A 1/4" dowel inserted in the base goes through the heel of his shoe to allow him to swivel. The carving placed in a competition, but looking at him now, must not been very much competion. Might just help give you an idea,

| | Re: Pirates suggestion Tarik, Here's some pictures of a pirate I was commisioned for some months back. This was carved in a basswood goose egg turning. Maybe this will help trigger your imagination some along with other members suggestions on the forum. |
