Default Pinecone Turkey

Last week on my way back to my truck from a VA appt, there was a few pine trees close to where I had to park. I picked up 2 smaller cones and toss'd them in the back of my truck.

I'v heard of people mading different things from pine cones,so to take a break from carving Christmas ornaments,I thought I would try to make a turkey from a pine cone.

Hes standing on a 6 inch base and the turkey is 5 inches tall. His head and leggs are carved from some apple wood pieces of scrap wood I had.

I know this isnt totally carved but just wanted to share this olde bird with yall.
Thanks for taking your time to view him. Tn~

Very creative...I like it! In addition to carving Santa's full-time, my wife and I are always looking for "nature's" beauties to use for projects. It's fun and it keeps your imagination working for you. Have a nice day!

Class A+ job for sure! That was an excellent turkey, thank you for sharing. I have seen a lot of turkeys and that looks just like them.

Santa carver,Ive not done any hoilday items before, like the carved Christmas ornaments and just wanted a break from them. To me thats what I enjoy the beauty in nature and it was just pure fun in trying different things like making a turkey from a pine cone.

Thanks for your nice comment! Tn~

Davy,I had it listed you might have missed it but I used some of the old apple wood I had left from earlier carvings for the turkeys head & feet. Funny you meantion acorns,I have a big one on my desk, been thinking what could I make from it?? The problem is, its hollow inside or its soft inside which would leave out carving it. I will keep thinking on the acorns. Man Im sure going to miss yall but too Im happy for yall as well.

I will be talking with you my friend,Forrest
