well being part of this group is helping not only with carving but with my computer skills.
i have just finished creating my album/s on picture trail.

What type wood are they made from?

James you have been busy lots of good looking carvings you are very talented. By the way what kind of bark did you use for your woodspirits?

the wood used is construction pine and red cedar end cuts i saved after building a deck.don't have patterns i just made some pencil drawings.will scan and send you what i have.

the bark is cotton wood that i pick up in wyoming when i was out there two summers ago. i only got 5 pieces just to try
now i wish i had filled the truck.if i'm lucking i should be going back this year and maybe find someone else will be cutting down a tree.

Really good carving. I like to carve faces and have a time with the eyes. Do you have any suggestions for carving the eyes? I'd like to see the drawings you have made too. Thank you.

James...

Nice work and great variety of pieces.....pertaining to cottonwood bark, twice I've purchase some on ebay from 'stix' (sellers ebay name) and have enjoyed the pieces sent to me, He sells in 25lb box full, I usually get 9-12 good size pieces for $25-$30.00 total.

i have several ways i do eyes depending on the size of the piece.and i recently watch one of the members of this board for some time doing eyes and its something i started practicing.
what sketches are you interested in.
