Default Pictures of Reference line marker

I have upload some pictures of a reference line marker that I have and a picture of the spatulas ALA and I were discussing.
The Reference line marker is about 5 inches long and 1 and 3/8 inches wide. The two outside pieces are 3/8 inches thick.
Made from Oak. Hole for pencil is the size of a pencil. Did not figure the angle. Hope it helps those who will make them.

The spatulas ar stainless steel and my darling little bride thought the were some sort of Martial Arts weapons. Hmmmmm, I guess they could be.

Dang it! Forgot to say the pictures are on the Picturetrails Other stuff. Guess the little bride was right about my mind. Actually, I don't.

Ken..the 'spatulas' look to me like dentist tools, but also the kind I have (only in plastic) for clay sculpture. So take your pick.

Thanks Dave. Do you sculpture in clay before you carve a subject?

Kenny, place wood on its side and guess at the center, mark with the center finder and then turn wood over and mark again with the same setting. You should be able to find the center fairly fast and then draw the line the length of the wood. I would be glad to put some pictures up since Danny did not show you how to use it. I visit with Danny often since we live fairly close. I also sale his center finder to all of my students. It is one of the MUST tools to have.

No I haven't..we have a large block of clay but that was for my wife...she did a series of small animal heads in clay and then we made molds and cast them...haven't done anything since we moved in that direction.. :

thanks to all that replied on the center/reference line finder.
i made one from some scrap wood left over from a furniture project.
not only will it be usefull for the reasons mentioned, but i think it will help in locating the eye position for birds & ducks so that they are at the same level height wise.

Dave, Congrats to you and your wife on the ribbons placements . For those who overlooked in the Jan-feb issue of ChipChats on pages 47,48,49 and I believe 50 is pictures and text on the Carving Show Dave and his wife showed and won at. Now I take it that the Mrs Dulop mentions and the bird picture was your wife. If not, My apologies!
