This is the last show I entered, it doesn't mention that I received the Caricature Carvers of America ribbon on the hobos looking at the pie.

I forgot to explain the three hobo carving. The hobo with the red hair has a bottle and the other two are thinking about sharing it with him.

Really nice work on the hobos, Rick - great faces. Boy, I was bowled over by the chip-carved quilt - what alot of work and how beautiful it is. There are some amazing artists out there.

Yes, there is some serious competion in this area. There are several clubs and schools that try to outdo each other at the shows every year.

I agree, the chip carved quilt is impressive.

Great carvings Rick; You and I have similar carving styles. I use a knife only and leave all the planes , don't sand, and use wash finishes. I guess next year you will go up a class. Keep up the good work. Big Al

Yes I would need to move up to the next level if I was to enter another carving.
I may decide to quit while I am ahead.

Rick in Seattle-----really nice hobos and I need to try something besides Santas, but that is what the family wants, so-o-o-o what to do. Again very nice group and so well done.charlie
