Default Pete LeClair in Western NY

Hey folks me and 13 others just spent the weekend in a class with Mr. Pete LeClair. This was the first class I had taken with this gentlemen and I must say he is one of the best instructors out there. He is patient and does a great job of explaining the process. The class project was Captain Sam (see pictures below) and was held in the booming metropolis of Bennington, NY. Pete supplied each carver with all the reference material on a CD for each student and the cost of the class included the cutout. I would highly recommend a class with him both for the experienced and the beginner carver as there is something for everyone.

Pete did announce in the class that he will soon have a website up and running and that he also has just finished filming a project for which DVD's will be sold. Thumbs Up

(It was good to see Don-by-the-Lake and Coffeeman again, some fine gentlemen if you should happen to meet them!)

The best place to find out class information are the magazines, but also some woodcarvers have websites that detail their class schedules. Some classes can be difficult to get into so make contact early to get your name on the list. Simplyme, since you are down near the city I'd be looking to see if Pete Ortel is holding a class, I hear they hold quite a few classes on Long Island. The internet is a good resource as well (Google is our friend...)...
