Default pattern help

I posted this also in the relief section, but could go to either I think:

I happened upon the Fall 2003 issue of WCI, front cover shows a relief carved fisherman....in the magazine there is a pattern of the face, but no eye template.....went to website and lo and behold they had the eye pattern template as a download pdf....well I have down loaded it, and everytime I print, even if I reduce the size, the eye is as big as the pattern's head....has anyone happened to have done this and has the eye template they would share?.....I assume because it is in a PDF file, I can make any changes to it, it shows the pattern reduced, but it sure don't print it reduced....any help is greatly appreciated.....Dennis

Dennis..what would happen if you saved the template out of the pdf. file and when your saving just change it to jpeg. (bring down the 'save as' and find jpeg)
and then try resizing it as jpeg in another program?

If I had to guess I'd say that you're printing using the Fit to Page option in your print options (generally this is the default). You can resize to your hearts content in a graphics package but unless you turn that off, none of it will matter. Turn that off, however, and you you'll get a print the size your graphics package says you're going to get. Then again, this is just a guess as to the problem.
