Default Pattern for carving a pocket knife

I asked this in a post back last fall and didn't get any answers, so will try again. Does anyone have a pattern to use for carving a wooden pocketknife, with blades that open? A friend collects Case knives and I thought this might make a good one-of-a-kind addition. I found someone who sells them already made, but I kinda would like to try one all by myself. I need help finding a pattern and this site is such a good place to get help.

ANYONE??? ???

Sorry Donna, I do not have a pattern. Now I did make on out of artist board and used brads when I was teaching knife safety in Scouts. However, It was a big one so was easier to see when demostrating.

With all due respect Donna, Draw one up. If it isn't what you want, refine it to the way you want. Bet you can do it!!!!!!
Lucky friend.
I collect Case also (well knives but like Case)and usually stop by the Case Outlet store in Labonon Mo when we past through there on the way to the lake and the Out-laws .

BTW, I sent you a Private message but will apologize for not answering you sooner. Wasn't watching the messages.
A little bird town called Caney on Highway 75 at the Ks/OK border.

Best to you,

Ken

Donna,
Another thought on the wooden knife. To hindge the blads on, one could use a wood peg/dowell or thickest part of a rounded wood toothpick. Hey gal, You have given me an idea. Now to have time to implement it.

So little time in a 28 hour day. Glad there isn't more!!! :

Donna, I used a similar pocket knife and traced around it to get the general shape then refined. For the blade to open and close the spring should be made of hardwood-I used sycamore. To make the blade open properly it is important to center the pin from three sides then the blade will snap open and closed and pause halfway. Remember not to glue the front half of the spring to the spacers.
Hope this is clearer than mud.

Thanks for the hints, guys. It's just one of those things I keep thinking about doing, and as slow as I am, Christmas will be here before long!

Plain Ol Ed: I've got that book, but never noticed info about a knife. I think I loaned it to someone, but will have to get it back sooner rather than later now.

Ken S: Thanks. I know where Caney is and if you make a pocket knife before I get around to it, let me know what 'not' to do!

Thanks, too, Buck. I figured getting the blade(s) to work right would be the hardest--that and getting some wood thin enough to make the blade.

Someday I'll be ready to undertake this project.
