Default Pair of Gnomes

I had some Dr's appointments this week, so didn't carve as much as usual...these two guys are what I have done since my last post on the 6th of June. The larger fella is 4 inches and the other is 3 inches, basswood, acrylic, no poly yet (they haven't dried, just finished painting them).

I am going to have to practice gnomes, my daughter wants one and we are going to visit her in August, so I need to do a good one for her. The smaller guy looks angry, I didn't pick up on that till I painted him...the other one just looks too big in the face, and something about his hat just doesn't look right. A member of my club showed us all last week how he does eyes..I tried his method on these guys, it was pretty successfull I think.
Your thoughts and comments are always welcome...happy carving to you all.

Gnomes, come in alot of different shapes and sizes.I like they are different and I think you did a great job carving them plus your painting fits them just right.

I was at the VA yesterday, yearly ck up,I knew Id hurt myself picking up a big slab of stone in our yard several weeks ago,got a hernia next to my belly & leg now,had surgery on another one down at my groin area with a patch in 2006, Plus with the old finger test,I have something there,so my Dr is haven me see other Drs about theses problems. Back to painting I go but Im gald I stopped and saw your neat Gnomes!! Keep up this neat carving!!

That little gnome does look a bit angry. Or just downright mean. But they're both great little carvings. I really like the small projects like that. Good job.
