Are there any online carving "chats" anymore? I saw on the "other" magazine's site they used to have a scheduled chat a couple of times per week but the most up to date information is a couple of years old on it and seems like it's ended. Any chats online that you participate in? Thanks |

Gee, you are correct.....I checked on GOOGLE and there aren't many listed like there was a bunch of years ago. I guess no one wants to talk any more. Too bad, so sad!!!!!!!!!! |

I'll throw this out there for anyone who wants. I have a Ventrillo account that hasn't been used in quite some time. Ventrillo is a very very simple program that allows multiple voice chat. I believe my account has 50 'seats' (people on at one time.) If there are people who would like to chat let me know and I would call carving discussions a very worthy cause. My personal opion of Ventrillo is it is very simple to load and operate and from my experience has never interfeared with other programs. The hardest part about Ventrillo is figuring out the settings which vary depending on you audio set up on your pc. These problems can usually be solved using Ventrillos text chat option or a simple phone call to anyone who is on and can play "can you hear me now" Vent. is also a program that can be password protected to keep crashers and spammers out. The offer is there, let me know. Spooker |

I would love to find one too. Not so much a voice chat..but one where folks can come in any time of the day and see who's there and visit and talk our favorite topic. I belong to another site (not woodcarving) that has one.. its nice to go see if theres anyone around when I cant sleep at 1 am... amazingly there is usually someone around to talk too. |

It's something we're considering when we update the website. Unfortunately most of the software is kind of buggy, so we've got to find a reliable software that won't shut down on people when we're not in the office to fix it. Bob |

The software bugs are a bit more resistant...they may need to be kiln-dried to kill them off <GRIN> Bob |

The Wood Carver's Digest, an email digest, has a Wednesday and Sunday night chat. I believe that you want to visit carverscompanion.com for more information. The Digest has been around since the late 90's ... 96 or 97??? It's a well proven, excellent source of info for any carver. Original run by Bill Judt it recently move to new management. Susan |
