Default The Old County fair.

Yesterday was my day to take a 4 hour stint at the Erie County fair in the woodcarvers house. I had a great time talking to all the people, showing them the tools we use and the way I carve with them. The most fun came when I got there early and when through the display to see how my entries did.

I've been carving for 3 years now and since I won a couple second place ribbons last year in the novice division I decided to enter 4 carvings in the "Open" class this year. I ended up with 2 Blue ribbons and what a supprise when I found that along with each first place prize was a check for $50.

Congratulation Paul, and well deserved ribbons!
Your fat bird is a favorite of mine, and the step by step process was really informative. The award just goes to show that the result is appreciated as well.
I like the stylized bird also.

Great carvings.

Congratulations Paul! I loved the 'Fat Bird' and the Stylized Eagle when you first posted them and still enjoy seeing them... You certainly deserved the ribbons and the prize money wasn't bad either...will always buy a few more blocks of wood to create more wonders with!!! Again congratulations and safe carving!
