Default Not one of my normal Santas.

A customer came to me and asked if I could carve a Santa for her from a picture of a Hallmark ornament. She Said it had to be about 10" high for her collection. Well he's finally done! I only had a small front view to work with and guessed at the rest. This was fun, but it reminded me why I built my roughout machine.

Hi Goody

It looks great! I'm amazed when you guys carve something like that from a single photo. And it's fun looking at your work! Thanks.

Nicely done Goody. That takes a lot of skill, to duplicate a figure from a photograph. Keep up the good work.

That is fantastic! It is so terribly difficult to "copy" a piece. I think it is our natural tendency to add our own stuff and style to any work. That you have a true copy of what your customer wanted is a testiment to your skills!

Goody,
You have done a fantastic job that is really very close to the picture. I agree it is hard to duplicate a picture because you dont have the picture from all angles. I am sure the customer was thrilled. Thanks for letting us see him

I like the basket, I'll have to steal the design for one of my Santas. Wink

Nancy Goff has a terrific tutorial on carving a basket if you haven't seen it! Which reminds me, I haven't seen Nancy on here for quite awhile?

I've seen Nancy's tutorial on baskets, I am usually looking for design ideas more than how to's. Three of my Santas (How Far, Victorian Delivery, Basket of Dreams) sport baskets and each is different. You can see them on our web site and I posted a picture of How Far's basket on the board but I can't find it. But here is the pic again.
