Default The newest WCI

Wow guys and gals,
Have you seen the newest WCI? I got mine today and there are some awesome projects in it. I especially liked the flower lid and the "Irish" lighthouse scene, and the walking stick, and.....everything! Hope I get more time tomorrow so I can read it cover to cover.

Thanks WCI for the inspiration in a variety of different carving mediums.

I must be close to the mailing depot for WCI since I got Issue #32 about a week ago and it's a good one for sure. The "other" major carving magazines seem to have huge sections decicated to just photos of carvings, which is nice, but WCI is the best how-to carving guide out there.

My five favorite articles:
  1. "Fantasy Wizzard Staff" Always looking for a new idea when it comes to faces in wood and here it is.
  2. "Carving a Rustic Picture Frame" I also enjoy making rustic furniture so this project had special appeal for me.
  3. "Photographing Your Artwork" I love photography as a hobby and although somewhat basic it was both enjoyable and helpful.
  4. "Quick Carve Spreader" Chris Lublemann is always interesting and here's another very simple project and who would have thought... a jelly & jam spreader. That picture of the spreader tied to the jar is a nice idea for casual Christmas gifts.
  5. "Native American Chief" Great relief project but I really liked the pattern supplied which will be a great addition to my woodshop class. I copy the pattern in several different sizes so that the kids can woodburn it on their shop projects.
Keep up the hard work WCI and I'll be around forever!

Rocket39,
Just remember you need to drive to get carving wood unless you get all yours thru the mail. Plus you can buy a lot of wood with the money you'll spend on speeding tickets. (I'm a good one to talk! I could paper the room with the tickets I've received in my life since I started driving years ago..Head Bange ) Whatever you do, just do it safely!!Talking

Got mine the other day. I really like the articles on the staff and photographing your work. I'm going to try some of those photography pointers soon!

I got mine on Friday afternoon. Hubby and I were making the trip to my parents on Saturday morning (a two hour trip). I thought, now I won't even open it till then, I can relax and read it from front to back, no interruptions. I couldn't stand it, not even five minutes, I had that magazine open and was happily reading away!! Great issue, as always!! Thanks WCI! Callynne
