| | New Year's Resolution.....early!! Well, I've finally learned my lesson. No more putting things off, no more thinking I've got plenty of time, this time I've really learned, really, really, really learned my lesson!!
I knew all year I had to get Santas done for the show that starts tonight at the Gallery. I knew I wasn't going to get as many pieces done as I'd have liked to but I had no doubts I'd be able to get done all the ones I had started. That was seven weeks ago I thought that (ahhh, innocence hmmmm, perhaps stupidity is a better word!), before we had six weekends of unexpected company (and it's not even hunting season yet, that starts in three weeks!!)
Don't misunderstand, I'm thrilled we got to see all the relatives we've gotten to see over the past six weeks, it's just that I could have enjoyed each visit more if I hadn't waited to do something I should have had done already!
So, my early resolution is this, starting in January I'm carving Santas, tons of Santas, I'm going to have a surplus of Santas. And if no one wants to buy them, I'm going to set them on a shelf and be prepared, just in case someone ever needs one! This has been insanity and I'm never coming here again.....okay, how many of you believe that? Stay tuned, I'm serious this time, I really, really, really am!! Deborah

| | Re: New Year's Resolution.....early!! Come on Deborah...after 2,000+ posts...we're supposed to believe that? <GRIN>
I know the feeling; my relatives have gotten used to getting a handmade ornament every year...and I have had the patterns all year...but guess what I've still got to make...

| | Re: New Year's Resolution.....early!! Deborah -- Late last night I received a nice email from Susie Mattix just returning from the Gallery's dinner for carvers and VIP customers. We were discussed !!
And everyone drank a really lovely toast to the carvers who weren't there. We were missed too. They're already making big plans for next year too,
Susie will send me a note tonight telling me how the opening goes ~sigh~
BTW - Al Longo will be HERE any minute. Tomorrow we're heading to the carving show in Belleville, IL so Al can hit Dale and Marge Heinecke for a truck full of wood. Neat, huh? |

| | Re: New Year's Resolution.....early!! Callynne,
You can send one of those Santas on your shelf to my place anytime you want. LOL
I know San will have alot of his trees at the gallery. I will see him Monday night and get news about what took place. I did not even try to get Santas to the gallery last year or this year.
Nancy G did you send them some carvings?
Both of you will be missed.

| | Re: New Year's Resolution.....early!! 2,000 plus posts, BobD, surely that is a typo, it must be 2,000 words.....hmmmmm, nope, that couldn't be right, that would be like what......five or six posts for me??
Thanks Colin for pointing out the obvious, you're right of course, I'm doomed! Friday morning I thought, "Wow, no guests this weekend, I'm going to clean house today and carve the entire weekend!" An hour later, hubby was home from work sick, I had to go get medication and 'comfort food' supplies. The weekend plans went down hill from there! Always the optimist (or fool!) I plan on getting tons done this week!!
Nancy, I hope they talked NICE about us!! I hope you had a great time at the Carving Show and Al got all the wood he could haul!!
Woody, any Santa of mine would be in great company with yours!!
Jillsy, you're right, I'll always come back, my carving roots are right here on this message board! Deborah |

| | Re: New Year's Resolution.....early!! Guilty, guilty, guilty!!!! I'm talking about me! I have a few cuts to make on a great toy soldier.....but is it in the mail with some other things for the gallery......No, of course not. I am sorry for still having it on my table, but for some reason other things have gotten in the way. Oh, to have the time to finish everything.....and be on time....what a goal......(but probably not in my lifetime...HAHA)
I think I'll try harder!!!
