Default new woodcarver on this forum

Hi: My name is Dave and I have been carving since retiring in 1991. At first I gave my pieces to my family, mostly my wife who didn't know where to put them anymore, so my children got stuck with the so called finished projects.

I take my pieces to a local craft show each year and have some regular customers who seem to like my work. I do mostly Santas and small carvings. My basswood supply comes from Lancaster County, that's here in Pa. so I don't have a big amount on hand at a given time. Since we down-sized from a home to a condo I have limited space which means I am restricted to small hand tools and a dremel tool.

Recently one of my customers has asked me to carve reindeer to go with all her Santas and animal carving has not been friendly to me and I wonder if any one can give me some information or instructions as to how to carve a reindeer.

Hello, David and welcome. Can't help you with the raindeer thing, but I bet someone will come along with an idea.
You might pose your question in the 'Holiday Forum' Holiday - Woodcarving Illustrated Message Board

Tom Wolfe has one in one of his books.... Can't remember which one of the 50+, but believe it's on the cover - so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Found the title:

"More Santa Carving with Tom Wolfe"
