Default New web site

I have a new web site and for anyone who has a little time to spare I'm going to ask you a BIG favor would you mind looking at the site and giving me a little feedback? I'm looking for comments on general appearance, ease of getting around the site, ease of viewing the subject matter, how interesting is the site, etc.

I will guarantee you this, even though they may not be used, AND and ALL suggestions and criticisms will be carefully looked at, analyzed and considered. Do not hesitate to give negative comments :'( they are really the ones I'm looking for. If you find a fault, or just don't like something, by all means mention it. I can take it, I have big shoulders.

URL is www.texhoma.net/~wjk

Thanks in advance

I don't know as how I'd change anything. Looks pretty good to me and it's certainly easy to navigate.

Looks good to me. I wouldn't change a thing . Maybe add to it as time progresses.

Sorry to have to tell you this Wolf, I can't find anything 'wrong' about your site. It is easily navigated, goos use of backgrounds, and great carvings. I really like it.

Good whittlin, Cliff

Many thanks to those of you who responded to my request. Now that I've gotten some feedback, let me pose what I perceive to be a problem. One of the problems that I had, that has been repaired now and may or may not have been present when y'all viewed the site, was that the enlargements of the horizontal pix in the GALLERY, IMHO, were a tad too large. I thought it required too much maneuvering to view them. Anyway, that is a moot point now. The only real problem, again IMHO, is the dialogue in the GALLERY section is too much in the horizontal. In other words, it runs off the screen on the right hand side next to the thumbnail and the viewer, if he desires to read it, must move it with the mouse. I think the length should be shortened and the dialogue block should be made a little more on vertical side. Sheesh, does that make sense? If anybody feels up to it, I would appreciate an opinion.

I just went over there and looked, and if I understood you correctly, the problem doesn't appear on my system. I can see the thumnails and all the text without touching anything. If I click on a thumbnail I get the enlarged picture just fine, the plate is perfectly round, so I'm guessing the horizontal and vertical pixel counts are o.k. A cou;ple of the pictures are too large vertically, but I can either scroll to see the whole picture or get more screen space by putting up my menu's.

I think it is extremely well laid out---two thumbs up!!! One thing I noticed though, it is a little unclear if you are just using your website to display your work or if you are a carver-for-hire.

For Fat Eddy - Thanks for your reply. It was most enlightening and cleared up a problem. My new site was mainly designed by me and 100 % constructed by my step-daughter-in-law. She did not see the problem with the GALLERY page diaglogue just as you did not. :-[ Well, the obvious conclusion is that it is my monitor. So, that is something that will not have to be fixed.

For lorax - I had to think a little bit before I could respond to your post. BTW, thanks for the thumbs up. This web site is to display items only. The web site that I just lost, hence this replacement, was a 'commercial' website. This one is a 'free' space from my ISP and I am prohibited from selling on it. I decided to go this route because I sold hardly anything off the old site. However, I want to say that I am not a 'carver-for-hire'. I very, very rarely take commissions, I feel much more comfortable carving what I feel like and if someone wants to buy the items, fine. (If I feel like selling). I spend a lot of time competing at wood carving shows which is something I consider fun. In any event, most of what I sell are bowls, turned on the lathe. I got into that about three years ago as something to relax me when I get too intensely into a sculpture. A good example, I have been working on a triple portrait for the last three months or so and have turned three or four bowls in that time.

That was a really long winded answer to a short question.
Sorry!!!! You got more info than you ever wanted to know
