Default New Thread or New Topic/Department?

Being fairly new to wood carving, I'm having difficulty finding supplies and new ideas on how to put together a minature scene for staging some of my carvings. My local business community doesn't have a craft/hobby shop with a good supply of the necessary items like small trees, shrubs, grass, etc. and I'm not always quite sure what I'm getting from some of the mail order suppliers since I've never dealt with them... I think it might be a good idea to find out what other more experienced carvers use and what they might suggest or recommend as suppliers when constructing thier scenes and carving displays.
I've been amazed and awed by some of the workmanship and art used by these 'professionals' and would love to see and hear about their experiences.
Maybe a new thread or even a additional department on this topic?
Thanks to all in advance and safe carving to each!
Kenn

Hey Kenn, if you look at one of the stickies (Top of the page) in the bird/animal carving section you will get a very detailed description on habitat making. There are many threads in that section related to that topic showing some wonderful methods. Well worth going through some of the old posts in there. I know Charlie Wolf has a few threads on the topic as well as Orygoner (Randy), Alarchie (Moderator)and a host of others.

Actually I use WASCO which has just about anything for making displays, in fact you can go all the way to museum quality plus books and DVDs.... and the works. In fact I got their catalog, it was overwhelming with all the possibilities.

Try Woodland Scenics: Woodland Scenics - Products - Woodland Scenics - Model Layouts, Scenery, Buildings and Figures
They sell scenic supplies for model train enthusiasts, but I find a lot of their products useful for building scenes for my carvings.
