santa carving lady I had my wife looking over my shoulder while I was looking at your site. She was even more impressed than I was. I have got to get more practice time in. Don

Thanks, Don (and Mrs. Don!) Just find what you love about carving, and then sink yourself into it :-)

Woody, I'm a bit confused, I think - what is 70 Santa feature?

Santacarvinlady,

FolkWorks proposed schedule for July/August indicates 70 Artists---70 Santas.
Do you have her schedule? Are you one of the Artist?

Â* Â* Hey Woody, I didn't know about the 70 Santa thing, don't have this years schedule yet for FolkWorks but Cease did ask me to carve a Santa for their July show so I must be one of the 'artists'. Â*YEAH!!
Â* Â* I have sent out two pieces, an Angel doll and a Santa, I know the doll sold, haven't heard about the Santa yet, sure hope he did. Â*Guess I should know in the next few days. Â*All this 'selling' stuff is new to me...but I like it! Â* Callynne

Yeah, Woody, I guess I am one of the artists for the '70' show - I just never looked at what it was being called :-) I won't be able to be there for it though - it's at the same time I'll be in Seattle for another show. I do plan to be there for the November show opening, though - hope to meet you all there then!!

Callynne - this selling stuff sure IS fun, LOL...but it can get pretty hectic. I'm having alot of trouble not getting too overwhelmed by the workload and losing focus on my work. Some days are sure better than others, but it's a kick to know that people want to own what we do!!

I also have just lately decided to sell some carvings. Sold at a few carving shows the last year or so. Got to talk to the people that purchased the carving and knew where the carvings would end up. Some satisfaction!! Selling through a outlet doesnot give you that.
I get the most pleasure out of holding a free raffle with my family and friends. That way I get to see my carvings every so often.
Hope to meet some of you carvers at FolkWorks.

You're right, Woody - it's much more satisfying to get to know (at least a little) the person who's taking your work home. I don't do many shows, just for physical reasons, but I do get to know quite a few customers I've met online - have established some pretty good friendships with some of them.

I think it's great that you're going to sell more of your work. Are you planning to sell online?

Teri
