Default New Carving Jig

You might remember the message I posted to get some help in getting me upright to take away the discomfort from bending over my carving. Well here are some pics to show you the end result. One of are members (thanks Gordon) was good enough to send me some diagrams and pictures of various types of jigs and I had a buddy help me construct one. The piece of basswood on the jig will be a wood spirit for my helper for all his carpendry work.
The jig has pins to remove to allow the carving to move up or down. It can also pivot to tilt on the side. I opted out of installing a platform which would have allowed the apparatus to turn on its axis. To do this, I would need to have the jig attached to the top and bottom. This jig is only attached to my work bench and is easy to remove. Thanks for everyone's input.
Patrick

Well done Patrick. Looks like a solid rig for holding your work. Hope it's easy on the back too.

Great job on coming up with a solution for a real problem... just more proof that necessity is the mother of invention, and carving IS most certainly a necessity!!

You deserve a break today (and not McDonald's) so grab one of those paddles leaning against the wall of your shop and spend an afternoon on the lake.

Thanks for sharing the end result with us!
