Default needed - wood gouges
Hello,
As a practicing artist (oil painter) who recently found a nice block of wood to carve, I noticed my wood gouges (Swiss made) were missing. With a capital M.
Any one know of a decent set of good carving gouges?

Hi, Robert, welcome to the forum. As for gouges, the majority here appear to prefer Pfeil and Ashley Ilse.

You need to be a little more specific in your request.

I'm (as many here) quite familiar with some gouges for carving, but not many are willing to part with them!

Joking aside - do you want some recommendations for replacement or are you looking to buy from someone here - or elsewhere? What size/style/profiles are you looking to replace. What exactly do you want to carve (if not looking for exact replacement)?

Pfeil (Swiss Made) are excellent, if you are using palm tools take a look at these: www.drakeknives.com
