You could do Santa face or Wood Spirits on the large pencils. You could precut a bunch of small crosses 1"x2"x1/4" and chip carve a simple pattern in them. Larry |

| I second Larry’s suggestion of pencils. They are quick and kids seem to love them. I keep some around the house for the grandkids and their friends. pencils 003.JPG pencils 004.JPG

While I can't give you a pattern, one of the gentlemen in our club takes spring clothspins and carves the top half into the shape of an alligator. The kids seem to love them at the events we've attended

So...where are you finding your large pencils? The Woodcraft Shop no longer carries them.

The pencils are awesome – but I can't find the large pencils either, and on a regular #2 it's damn hard to pull off. If you have time/resources, maybe a bunch of miniature 5-minute wizards or 2-minute owls (see the Whittlin' special edition... it has tutorials that rock). |

If you only need a few large pencils they are available at Walmart. Not the most economical place to buy but at least a place to get them. Have A Great Day Terry |

Art supply stores (Dick Blick, Opus) and children's educational supply stores usually have the big pencils. I wouldn't pass up office supply stores.
