Hello all, Here I am in Vermont (Brattleboro) for two weeks of babysitting and carving, but I forgot my carving glove. Anyone know of a supplier in this neck of the woods? I tried Sams for a fillet glove, all the local hardware stores, and even Walmart. No one has anything even close--but sure got some strange looks when I asked for it and described it ![]() Donna T

Sorry Donna, I'm in the opposite, northern end of the state. My cut resistant gloves have mostly come mail order. I have found that cheap leather or pigskin gloves from the local hardware store when double-gloved (one over the other) provide a substantial cut resistance...enough to slow any normal carving slice from hitting flesh... ...but that's the best I can offer. Lee Valley and Tools For Working Wood both manage to get orders delivered to northern VT in two or three days from date order is placed if all else fails. RussL. |

Thanks, Mark,Thomp, and Russ, That would make a nice road trip and the 3-year old should be sound asleep after the first 10 minutes! It would be doable tormorrow unless I find something closer. Walmart didn't have them--just a cloth glove that had rubber coated palms to help "handle" live fish. We can sometimes get fillet gloves from them at home. If worst comes to worst, my daughter had a pair of leather yard gloves that I can use one on the left hand. Don't suppose she'd notice a few slits and cuts on it when she returns.....ummmm. I thought about going to a meat processor--in Missouri, with all the hog, chicken, and turkey processors, kevlar gloves are used. But my son-in-law tells me there isn't such a place nearby. Anyway, thanks guys for the info. Donna
