As a wedding gift my parents gave us an antique chair that has claw feet. Half of one of the claw feet is missing and has been since by parents found it at an auction 20 years ago. Can anyone point me to where I might find someone to carve the piece I need? Anyone know what would be a reasonable amount to pay for this kind of service? Here are some pictures of the feet. I think this is a job I could probably do, but with all my other hobbies, I would rather not pick up another (yet). :-) Thanks, Matt Fuller |

I realize that this message is coming about 3 years late... but I have been wood working with my grandfather for the last 10 years. I have recently been restoring older antiques and recently aquired a claw foot buffett that needs the same repair. I am going to atempt to do it myself having some experience with carving. However I think your main problem will be matching the origional color and scheen of the finish of the foot. When I have my repairs completed I'll post them for you to see. If you like what you see I might be able to do yours as well; unless the chair has already been repaired or if you have since sold the piece. Nathan |

Nathan, Thanks for the reply. I do still have the piece and have not had it repaired. You are the only one who ever responded to my posting. I would be happy to see your work and see if we could work out a way for you to recreate the "toes". My direct email is fullermatt at hotmail dot com Thanks, Matt |
