Check out the new Carving Magazine, it is the holiday issue and they have a nativity scene in it.

Woodcarving the Nativity in the Folk Art Style - Step-by-Step Instructions and Patterns for a 15-Piece Manger Scene

The above is a great pattern book.
There was a pattern from it in a back issue of WCI.
I also have one titled Helen Gibson Carves The Animals of the Nativity. Really helpful.
Hope it helps you,
Doug

lynn diehl has a book of a flat plane nativity-- all figures but animals are carved out of 2 or 2 1/2 inch square stock-- ive done several and are really pretty easy and well recieved-- nice in that they are kinda stylized and not painted-- -- book is from schieffler i think

If you want a simple one, in flat plane style, check out Gene Messer's on you tube.

I think it's great
