Default Native in White Pine

Hi gang,
As you may recall I finished a seminar with Jeff Phares a couple of weeks ago. I learned so much from Jeff it was the first lesson that I have taken and showed me just how much I didnt know. As you saw I created a native American/Canadian out of a piece of butternut. I was so pumped up from taking that seminar that I came home and decided to carve a native of my own just a little bigger than the one I did with Jeff. It is not complete I still have a lot of detail to put into him but I thought I would post a picture on www.picturetrail.com so you could see how he is progressing. The little guy in the picture is my grandson who is starting to follow in grandpa's footsteps he just loves to carve and I am teaching him I will post a picture of his first carving at a later date. The native is over 6ft high and is out of one piece of white pine. I think I will try one similar at the competition in British Columbia next week. I have not finished him yet so any suggestions are certainly welcome I take a lot of heed to advice given on this message board I think you are all very talented people.
Colin

Wonderful, Colin!! I just love how you take an idea and blow it up so big that the world just can't help but stop and look!!

The little carver behind the indian looks happy to just be there with Grandpa - he's our carving future!

Colin, that's great! Can't wait to see the finished product. I agree, it is really something the way you take an idea to huge proportions.
