Default Native American WCI 2005

In the fall 2005 lssue No.32 of WCI,it was my 1st carving mag. I like what I saw and thought to myself,Im going to make me some knives and get me some other tools and try to carve something.

I did later and Ive always like this Native American Chief that Dean Troutman carved. I had this thick slab of pine and with no way of cutting it down any,I used chisels to thin the board then carved the front of it. Carved it a few wks ago.

Its 8 1/2 X 9 1/2 inches.Painted with acrylics.

Your thoughts or comments are welcome and I hope you like this carving.

P.S Im not Mr.Troutman but I thank him for gearing me up to try to carve but 1st carver I met in person 2006 was Gene M. It was a very fine meeting with him.Every summer my mind goes back to that day we had coffee and he carved right there while people stopped eating to watch him!

Thks' Forrest

Very very nice Forrest. Very rich, very anteekky. Love the style. So that would be a Forrest Native American, not a Plains Native American eh?

Great job on the carving Forrest, and fine detail on the feathers.
