I finished him today, just put on the feed& wax used a mix of on cup mineral spirits to 3/4 inch of burnt umber oil paint from the big tube and 4 coats of minwax laquer. Thanks now for lookin. PS. named him Braided Heart Feb

Feb, That is one very nice wood carving!!! You have captured an essence extraordinarily well. Also very glad to see you changed the name as many Native Americans take offense at the word squaw considering it to be synonymous with the word whore. We, of my generation all grew up hearing it in movies and on TV, when the "Cowboys and Indians" theme ruled the entertainment industry, but so little effort was made in those to consider what might be sensitive to the culture of Native peoples everywhere. Thank you for showing us this beautiful piece! L.P.
