| | National Museum of Woodcarving Well, I finally was able to visit the National Museum of Woodcarving last week. My family and I took our kids to the Black Hills for the first time. Wife and kids dropped me off at the museum and went to have ice cream while I got to check out the carvings. If you ever get a chance to go to Custer, SD take some time and visit the museum. You will not be dissappointed. The highlight for me was to visit with Keith Morrill, the resident woodcarver and CCA member as most of you know. He's a very nice man to talk to. He'll share what he knows of woodcarving with you. I asked if I could get a picture of him and he said of course you can. I assume he wouldn't mind me posting it here. I also took a lot of pictures of the museum's woodcarvings because there was a sign that said you can take pictures, but I'm not sure if it would be appropriate to post them here or not so I don't think I will take a chance even though pictures do not do a lot of these carvings justice.

I see in your picture you've got some sticks standing in the corner. Care to post any pictures of them? I like to see what others are doing. And if you check out my website, you'll see I love sticks. |

| | Re: National Museum of Woodcarving Ron,
Those sticks are not mine, I believe those are Keith Morrill's. Sorry, I didn't get any pictures of any carved sticks.
Lynn,
No, we didn't get any bumper sticker. I can't believe they would do that without your permission. I assume someone must have complained and they stopped doing that or we got lucky. Or, maybe we didn't get one because my wife had just dropped me off and she and the kids left for awhile and then just picked me up. Who knows!

| | Re: National Museum of Woodcarving I was out there last year and mentioned that I did not want their sticker on my car..They informed me they had stopped that practice. Probably got expensive and a lot of complaints. |

| | Re: National Museum of Woodcarving It has apparently changed alot since 1991. The guy there, wasn't friendly at all. Mostly overseas stuff at that time, Highly disappointed. Said I would not return. However, the rest of the trip, ount Rushmoore, the bad lands, Crazy horse monument and even Walls was really nice to visit. |

| | Re: National Museum of Woodcarving It must have changed. I noticed that the animated woodcarvings were in need of some TLC. Plus I was really disappointed by the amount of carvers represented there. I thought I was going to see carvings by some of the great ones while I was there. Wrong. Lots of stuff from China. I am not interested in going back. Like you said Kenny the rest of the trip (Rushmore, Crazy Horse etc) was great. I would probably do them again some day.
The highlight of my trip was visiting with Lynn on my way home. Got to see his carvings up close and must say they are great. |

I'd love to see the photos you took and don't think they'd mind being as they said you were allowed to take them. |
