my wife always wants to know what i'm going to do with all the wood.lucky for me she never goes in the attic of the garage.

Colin I get sidetracked also. The only way I stayed buckled down on a certain carving is when I'm doing one for someone. I do tend to go back and finish them after time though. So far I have only lost one imcompleted carving, your post made me realize it. Hmmmm :

I have plenty of round toit's.
probably 10 spoons cutout and staring at me. a friend wants a spirit in a log. one wants a cane topper. 5-6 sticks either drying or roughed. some golf balls opened and looking at me.etc....

Well back when I had a shop to carve in regularly I kept several carvings going at the same time . Sometimes I would reach a portion of the carving that I was unsure how to proceed , so I picked up another till the answer came to me . Other times I just simply got bored with what I was doing and if you get bored or to tired thats when accidents happen that result in bleeding or gluing back the piece I just inadvertently cut off . Only once did I start a piece and not put it down till I could not keep my eyes open only to pick it back up and finish it the next day. It was a fireman complete with air mask, tank and nozzle and hose , inspired by how I felt after the house fire the first morning , the boots on the carving are proportionate to how they felt the day before huge and heavy
