This is a project I've been wanting to do for a long time, a portrait of my daughter. I want to try a portrait first and if that comes out ok, I'll want to try one in the round I have carved native americans and have a realistic carving of Elvis, but this is more realistic to me. this is where I am at presant time, I do miss Doris she is really good a realistic carving but I'm not sure if she post anymore. The carving will be basswood 8 x 13 x 3" I will post more as I progress. Feb

I'd second that Feb, there's not much out there for carving the female face. That is looking very good so far though will keep an eye on this one see if I can pick up and tips!

Looking great so far, will keep an eye open for the updates. Will the carving be for your daughter?

Looks like a great start. You have a good eye for carving what you see. That is a gift. I just got Ian Norbury's Portrait carving DVD. I hope to start on the grand kids soon. Not sure how I will do.
