Default My Maori inspiration

After reading the article in WCI on the Maori from New Zealand, I wanted to try the necklace pendant. Here is my attempt in Canary wood. The three looped one is finished with Watco Natural. The four looped one is finish with crystal glaze.

Thanks for looking Wanda.

Hi Wanda, I see that little wizard there in the background, he looks like chip willy's brother. I think he put a spell on you. If you check the Maori article, they are kind of like a pretzel. The top section crosses over, and then it is behind on the bottom section, with a never ending loop. Neverless, you are looking good, keep it up.

Tom

Tom, you are so right. The pictures I posted were what I did with the leftover wood from the Maori pendant. I had cut out four on the bandsaw from some canary wood and other scraps I had. The first one seemed too thick after carving on it a while so I sliced off the back and layed it aside. I did the same to the other blanks. I finished two with the crystal glaze and the other two with the oil. A friend came by and saw the piece I cut off and wanted one of my Celtic twist for her daughter. I wasn't about to tell her it wasn't Celtic but scrap I had cut off.

I posted the pictures of what I did with the scrap not the Maori pendant I had meant to. Just goes to show one should not post when one is tired. Yesterday I felt better than I have in months and I tried to do everything I hadn't been able to do in one day. Not advisable!

Here is the correct photo of the Maori pendant.

Doris, You are right too. Both are of the same pendant, front and back to show the different grain. It was the piece cut off the original Maori type pendant. Unfortunately in all my wisdom yesterday I deleted the pictures on the chip.

I did a two link, three link and two four link. All of them were too thick so I cut them down and got 4 Maori style and 4 Celtic style.

All of them but two are on their way to their new homes.

Wanda
