Default My Carving days are numbered

Good morning gang,
I think that my carving days are numbered. As some of you know I have been retired for about 7 years now. My wife is retiring in another 4 months. For the past two days she decided to take a couple of days off to see what it was going to be like. Well let me tell you I think my life is over. I havent carved for two days and here is some of the reasons.

I had to do all the outside windows
Clean up the garage
Clean up around the pool
Paint the fence
Cut the grass
Rake the leaves
Clean the basement
Clean up my workshop
Put all my clothes away
pick up my room
I wont mention all the things she needed me to run to town for.
paint the trim
Bath the dog
Whew!!
I am out of breath and I havent even touched the surface of things she wants done. When the heck does she think I am going to find time to carve.
Oh did I mention she now wants me to start making my bed. , why would you want to do that when nobody sees it and your just going to crawl back into it.
Well just had to share that with you, you may say what has this got to do with carving.
For me EVERTHING!!!
Colin ??? :'(

I know what you mean Colin! My little bride decided not to go back teaching this year. The plan was to wait 2 years and see how thing were going. She isn't a fan of NEA or some of the policies the state of Kansas mandated. Not helping the children. ANyway, she said I was having to much fun being retired so she was ending that. : But it is nice to have her around as for 35 years, My work schedule never worked out to where we were off together much. The Kids never had a normal working dad( that didn't sound right). When they were off,Iwas working and when I was off they were in school or working.
It will get better! Hang in there Colin. Maybe you can do what I did, get her into carving bark. Well, that wasn't so bright after all, now she carves and I wash dishes,
cook lunches and dinners,
wash ,dry and fold clothes
vacum the house, wash windows, inside and out
dust
mow
weedeat
be her answering service as she is carving(she doesn't want to miss anything)
Watch her soaps and twell her what is going on(I hate those programs)
scrape down the outside wood for painting
painting the house and then trim(changing colors)
Yeper Colin, this to will pass. I think!

Guys, you're really depressing me! I can't retire for at least another 15 years but I keep tellling myself that once I finally do, I'll be able to do some serious amounts of carving! Now you're saying that ain't so!

As it is, I have to do all the stuff Colin mentioned AND work 40-45 hours a week! That does it, I'm going to go buy some lottery tickets!

Mikeg,
Do you really think it will stop even when you win the Lotto? My wife would just add more to my list!

I'm seeing a theme here, it has something to do with the wife. Â*Have you considered swaping her for a dog or cat?

I hope my wife doesn't read this. . . Â*If she does, I love you honey!

You can run , but you can't hide. The best advice that I heard on the forum was the trade thingee. A friend of mine used to say, I got a good wife, I should have no trouble getting rid of her. And by the way, my wife never looks at a computer.

Colin, here's something to try, get some plaster of paris and make yourself a cast for one of your arms. Make it just big enough so you can barely slip it off. Then the next time you have a commission, slip the cast on just before you get home and tell your wife you had a little accident and the doc said to take it easy for a few weeks. Sorry, that's the best I could come up with

Colin:
There is only one answer that has worked for me. Everytime I get asked to do something out of the ordinary, I do my best to screw it up. Once you do it right your sunk... it will be your primary job. Remember when the kids were home and you got so frustrated when you asked them to do something? The same holds true for you. Take too long to finish....complain the whole time you are doing it....do it wrong...complain some more....make a bigger mess than you started with.....let the chores interfere with her time....screw it up man.
