Default Must be Monday - Daily post Feb 23rd...

I'm off to work this morning, carvings will be waiting for me when I get home.
How about you, are you focusing in on a carving project today, or something else ??

Good morning! Yes, I'll be carving today, finishing up the detail carving and sanding on a cat and then roughing out another one and a dog also. First I have to do a little Monday morning housework > :'(, I'd MUCH rather be carving!! Callynne

I'm off to work also, but I get to carve all day. I can carve until noon, and then my Monday students show up. We actually have a 4 hr. picnic. What started out as a light lunch has turned into a full meal. Today is Tex-mex, Gorditos. I never thought that I would gain this much weight teaching a carving class.

it's another monday and I'm at work...

...sharpened up the tools last night using my Arkansas waterstones amazing what a sharp tool can do...

...plan on doing more research/design work on carvings for upcoming competitions, can't start planning too soon.

...Tberry, I liked the photos of your shop but it looked as though you had built yourself a customized tool caddy for your palm gouges. I would be very interested in seeing your creation as I am trying to design a chest for all of my carving tools.

Have a great day folks!

No carving today, but this weekend I just got my new bandsaw set up in the shop. Grizzly 17' with a 2 HP motor, resaws up tp 12' thick. All paid for with commisions. Wifey got one look at it and 'urged' me to add on to the garage (it went into the basement) so I will be getting a new shop out of the deal. I should have bought one years ago!

today was carving club day,and some days don't get to do much as i spend my time sawing out blanks for some of the older fellows or those that are not familiar with the band saw.
I did start on a new stylized bird using cedar.the duck has all the detail burned in except the tail,i've put it aside for now as the tail doesn't look right.then spent the afternoon running around looking for sealer-no luck had to mail order it.

Drew a figure ( thin man with folded arms) bandsawed it out, roughed out, ate lunch, finished the figure and dipped it in boiled linseed oil so I can start painting it tomorrow. Fun Fun

Went to carving meeting tonight
We meet every monday night
Got a piece of mesquite from the guy whoose house we meet at. and a wall plaque. Not sure what I am going to do with it yet. Sending the mesquite to a fellow carver in Ohio. That stuff is hard as a brick. He had had that piece of mesquite 2 years. Someone gave it to him. Yes I live in texas, but Mesquite is not available in my area of Texas. Finised painting my box for the van.. checked email and carving groups I am on...................Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewi am tired
