| | Mushroom Woodspirits finally delivered Hi Gang,
Well I finally delivered the mushrooms to the customer as well as a very large 5ft tall double sided carving. All the carvings were done in eastern white cedar. Not only that but she ordered another carving from me with the promise that she wanted even more. Go figure here was the customer I thought I couldnt please and now she is singing my praise. If you think I will paint another carving white or even think of carving another mushroom you have another think coming. Here are pictures of the two finished mushrooms and the double sided carving. Note to make sure she was happy I carved a butterfly and put on one of the mushrooms. She absolutly loved it.

| | Re: Mushroom Woodspirits finally delivered I like the butterfly also... One question? My son does chainsaw carvlings .. He does them in pine , cedar and walnut. usually when he does them for the outside, they will do some spliting .. Will the mushrooms sometimes split also? He does quite a few bears in a stump when he takes down a tree.. I am just wondering about the mushrooms.. Thanks Charlotte |

| | Re: Mushroom Woodspirits finally delivered Well done Colin. I like the butterfly touch! Adds character. Nice to hear she likes your efforts and is ordering even more. Hopefully you can get some nice pictures next year when her garden is in bloom , surrounding your masterpieces! I'm sure others here would like to see those! I know I would. Keep it in mind. Great job.

| | Re: Mushroom Woodspirits finally delivered In all my haste I forgot to take the camera but I will next time I go back. Yes Charlotte sometimes the wood will split even after it is carved. Unless you coat it with a real heavy spar varnish but then it gives it that waxed look. Ron I am still not caught up yet I have another carving to do next week and then I hope I dont get anymore phone calls until after the open house.
Thanks everyone for all the comments and support thru this one it all worked out in the end and I have learned many lessons on this commission. It is a great day when you learn something and I just love to learn.
