Default {Mtn Town}

Finally finished this old mtn town,its "Big Rock".

I made one big mistake to start with,didnt have any smaller old boards in my wood bin outside,saw this half round one and course it took alot of cleaning and sanding.

I carved the round side,seem like it took forevever to get a cut in it?? The reason,its walnut,old purple heart,hard as a brick bat, this old saw mill slab,I know Ive had it for 5 years,I think its dry now!! LOL

This was alot of fun{yea right} Every item on this carving is carved,starting from the little guy fishing in the lake to the old farm place with the barn and all the way down through the towns stores and the people there.Inside the old filing station is Ray,the owner,the cans of oil behind him plus the old round top coke machine is carved plus the inside of the garage with the old truck jacked up.

Heres a few picts,hope you can see the details.

Its 10 X 29 inches,I could have gotten alot of little match size carvings out of this one~

Its painted with 7 different colors of Acrylics.Might be my last carving for a while due too I've got alot of the Twilight wolves to start,I've been carving them all along but have a big order now that will take 3-4 wks to do.

Your thoughts and comments are always welcome.

Thanks,Forrest

I think you "out-did" yourself on this one Forrest. A lot happening in Big Rock, there's even some guy out there trying to catch my fish, enjoyed seeing it and all the work you put into this little town. Been wonderin' where you've been, forgot about all the wolves.

Your old buddy, Dan

Forrest,
Really neat. That is what I like about what you do. It is carving, its art, its imagination all rolled in to a good ole Forrest production. The way it showed up on my screen at first glance thought it was a painting on a borad kind of like what you see on an old saw. Then I started reading and as I scrolled down saw it was carved. I guess there's one thing about it. When you ain't postin you's definitely busy with the carvin.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

Amazing! What a neat carving! I really enjoy seeing your carving, Forrest. You are so inspiring. I don't know if I could ever do one of your little match carvings (My finners are just too big) let alone one of those wolves you do.

Big Rock looks like a rocking place to visit. That old Coke machine makes me thirsty. LOL!
